The public is invited to attend Lake of the Woods County Historical Society’s annual meeting on Friday May 19^th starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Baudette Moose Lodge.

Since we had a positive turnout with the catered meal and presentation, we decided to do it again. The evening will begin with a social time from 5:00 – 5:30. Northern Bites will be providing a catered meal, for which registration is required, beginning at 5:30. The meal will cost $13 per person. At 6:00 Lindsay Marshall, Executive Director, and Calista Wolf, board president, will give a brief summary of the past years’ events and events which are already planned for the coming year. The evening will end with a presentation will be given by Mike Magner, an archaeologist with the Minnesota Historical Society who works closely with the DNR-Division of Forestry and DNR-Division of Fish & Wildlife. His presentation is titled, “Pioneers: The Paleoindian Period in Northwestern Minnesota.”

The election of two board positions will be on the agenda. Board terms are three years, with a maximum of three consecutive terms allowed. Anyone wishing to serve on the board should contact the museum at 634-1200.

The organization is always seeking new members and volunteers to help with a wide range of projects. The more volunteers we have, the more capacity we have, and the more we can accomplish!

To register for the dinner portion of the meeting, please call Lindsay by Thursday May 18th at 634-1200. If you just want to attend the meeting and program portion, which will start at 6:00, there is no need to register.
